There is some confusion about a time frame for revalidation given the year’s delay to the whole process instigated by Mr. Andrew Lansley Secretary of State for Health. However, the Responsible Officer legislation should be enacted in the autumn of 2010 with Responsible Officers in post by the end of the year. The pilot schemes on revalidation are currently reporting back and the results of the GMC consultation process should also be known by October 2010.
A dinner will be held at the Athenaeum on the 4th November 2010 when the guest speaker Mr. Niall Dickson, CEO of the GMC, will bring us up to date with the current situation.
